1Robert I. Sutton is an Assistant Professor at Stanford University's Department of Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management. His research on organizational death was conducted as a doctoral student in The University of Michigan's Organizational Psychology Program. He has published articles in the Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Relations, and the Journal of Occupational Behavior. Professor Sutton's current research and writing concern the organizational transitions of decline and death, occupational stress, and organizational effectiveness. His future plans include the study of rapid wganivltional growth.
