Các liệu pháp dựa trên chánh niệm cho các vấn đề sức khỏe và rối loạn tâm lý đã tăng cường độ phổ biến và sự sử dụng. Một lượng lớn bằng chứng thực nghiệm cho thấy những liệu pháp này có hiệu quả. Tuy nhiên, có thể rằng những cuộc điều tra khoa học về các liệu pháp dựa trên chánh niệm chưa được thực hiện với mẫu đại diện. Cụ thể, dường như hầu hết người tham gia trong những nghiên cứu này là nữ giới.
