Mục đíchBài viết này nhằm khám phá các khái niệm về công bằng xã hội và lãnh đạo của người Tonga từ góc độ văn hóa.Thiết kế/phương pháp/tiếp cậnCách tiếp cận được sử dụng là từ một góc độ văn hóa dựa trên bằng chứng cho thấy văn hóa ảnh hưởng đến cách chúng ta suy nghĩ và do đó ảnh hưởng đến hành vi của chúng ta, và lập luận rằng công bằng xã hội liên quan đến việc nhận thức các giá trị, triết lý, quy trình và cấu trúc trong hệ thống giáo dục của chúng ta, và việc lý thuyết hóa công bằng xã hội nên được xây dựng trên các hệ thống kiến thức đã ăn sâu vào văn hóa của chúng ta.Kết quảKhái niệm về công bằng xã hội của người Tonga dựa trên Faka'apa'apa (tôn trọng) trong khi lãnh đạo Tonga dựa trên Va¯ (quan hệ); cả hai khái niệm đều hội tụ ở vai trò của lãnh đạo. Ví dụ về khái niệm của người Tonga được đưa ra như một hướng dẫn cho các quốc gia Thái Bình Dương khác xem xét khi phải đối mặt với các công cụ giáo dục toàn cầu.Tính độc đáo/gía trịBằng cách khái niệm hóa công bằng xã hội từ một góc độ văn hóa, một sự hiểu biết thay thế được đưa ra và một góc nhìn toàn cầu hơn được thể hiện.
