Tóm tắtTrong nghiên cứu thí điểm này, các đèn làm khuôn từ Ephesos thời kỳ Hậu Hy Lạp đã được khảo sát bằng cách kết hợp các đặc điểm địa tầng-thẩm mỹ và phong cách với địa chất mỏng và phân tích kích hoạt neutron. Các loại đồ gốm cùng thời sản xuất từ Ephesos và mẫu đất sét thu thập xung quanh khu vực cũng như dữ liệu đã công bố từ cơ sở dữ liệu Bonn được coi là vật liệu tham khảo địa phương. Kết quả chỉ ra một mạng lưới các xưởng sản xuất địa phương/khu vực chia sẻ các cơ sở và/hoặc lực lượng lao động dành cho các nhiệm vụ riêng biệt. Tất cả bằng chứng đều phù hợp với những khởi đầu rất sớm của một ngành công nghiệp xưởng tập trung có khả năng tối ưu hóa năng suất của đồ gốm làm khuôn và đáp ứng nhu cầu của một thị trường khu vực và siêu khu vực ngày càng tăng. Đặc điểm kiểu loại và tính biến đổi thành phần của các giai đoạn muộn nhất có thể gợi ý về một quá trình chuyển giao dần dần các hoạt động làm gốm sang các khu vực cung cấp nguồn đất sét phù hợp hơn.
