Learning-friendly environment: motivational drivers for preschoolers’ interest and engagement

The paper investigates the motivational drivers and engagement of preschoolers to learn in a friendly environment on the basis of the conducted research. Using the simulation method, a program based on cutting-edge technology was developed for one group of preschoolers, while the second group was taught under a traditional program. After training based on the methodology developed by Berhenke, the motivation of preschoolers to learn was described. The results of the experiment show that the strongest motivation to learn was observed among preschoolers who were taught under a program based on cutting-edge technology and in an interactive environment, which gives a stronger impetus to learn as compared to a conventional setting. According to the motivation scale developed on the basis of the research findings, preschoolers of the first group have high (45%) or medium (39%) levels, whereas medium (42%) or low (39%) levels prevailed among preschoolers of the second group. The practical value and prospects for further research are explained by the possibility of using the developed program based on cutting-edge technology in teaching preschoolers to improve their motivation for learning. The proposed methodology for measuring preschoolers’ motivation can be also used in the study of motivation not only among preschoolers, but also among students of various years of study, in a comparative aspect.
