Nghiên cứu này nhằm mục đích tách chiết một số probiotic mới từ đất vùng Himalaya Đông Bắc. Mười một chủng vi khuẩn Gram dương đã được thu được trong môi trường MRS với Oxgall từ các mẫu đất. Bốn trong số các chủng này đã chịu đựng được sự kiểm tra độ pH 3.0 của dịch vị dạ dày in vitro và độ dung nạp muối mật 0.45%. Trong số đó, PBT 3 cho thấy tính thấm nước bề mặt tế bào cao và gắn kết với các tế bào Caco-2. Chuỗi gen 16s rDNA của các chủng probiotic này đã được xác định là Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (số truy cập: JF836079). Trong đánh giá hiệu quả sinh học in vivo trên các động vật viêm ruột do DSS gây ra, B. amyloliquefaciens đã cải thiện đáng kể sự giảm cân. Hơn nữa, điều trị này đã làm thay đổi mức độ myeloperoxidase, lipid peroxide và nội tiết nhầy trong mô ruột kết so với ruột kết bình thường. Nó giảm mức độ protein và mRNA của các cytokine pro-inflammatory như TNF-α và IL-1β. Những phát hiện sinh hóa này được hỗ trợ bởi các bằng chứng mô bệnh học.
