Addition of1to liposomes did not lead to a complete vanishing of the excimer emission with all liposomes tested. For example with liposomes composed of lecithin from egg yolk (high degree of unsaturation in the lipid chains) the system reached an equilibrium state at 26°C whereIE/IM= 0. 43. Compatibility of the anchor groups with the lipid chains plays an important role in controlling the distribution of the anchor groups within the membrane.
