The backscattering of light wave from arbitrarily convex dielectric objects with rough surface is investigated and formulas for calculating the backscattering cross-section of both coherent and incoherent fields are obtained. In the infrared wave-band, the influence of the geometry, permittivity and statistical characteristics of the rough surface on LRCS is analyzed, by using rough sphere and ellipsoids as examples.
