Xem xét mối quan hệ giữa hostility môi trường - lập kế hoạch - hiệu suất của các nhà bán lẻ Hồng Kông. Một mối quan hệ tích cực được tìm thấy giữa môi trường thù địch và các đe dọa bao gồm tình trạng thiếu lao động hiện tại, giá thuê tăng cao, sự cạnh tranh từ nước ngoài, việc trở về dưới sự quản lý của Trung Quốc vào năm 1997 và mối quan hệ của Hồng Kông với đại lục Trung Quốc. Các nhà bán lẻ cảm thấy ít thù địch hơn trong môi trường của họ thường có xu hướng lập kế hoạch tốt hơn. Những người lập kế hoạch ngắn hạn đã vượt trội hơn rõ rệt so với những người không lập kế hoạch. Lập kế hoạch dài hạn chính thức không có mối quan hệ rõ rệt với hiệu suất của các nhà bán lẻ.
