Viêm tụy tự miễn là một dạng đặc biệt của viêm tụy mạn tính và đã được liên kết với nhiều tổn thương ngoài tụy. Để tìm kiếm sự tương quan giữa viêm tụy tự miễn và các tổn thương tuyến giáp, chúng tôi đã đo chức năng tuyến giáp ở 41 bệnh nhân viêm tụy tự miễn và 41 bệnh nhân viêm tụy vôi hóa mạn tính và điều tra sự tương quan giữa các kháng nguyên HLA và suy giáp. Chúng tôi phát hiện sự khác biệt có ý nghĩa về tỷ lệ kháng thể kháng thyroglobulin và suy giáp giữa bệnh nhân viêm tụy tự miễn và bệnh nhân viêm tụy mạn tính (34,1% so với 7,3%, P = 0,005, và 26,8% so với 0%, P = 0,0005, tương ứng). Bệnh nhân suy giáp có tỷ lệ kháng thể kháng thyroglobulin cao hơn rõ rệt (63,6%) so với những người không bị suy giáp nhưng không có sự khác biệt trong các phát hiện khác, bao gồm nồng độ IgG4 huyết thanh. Chúng tôi không thể tìm thấy sự liên kết đáng kể nào giữa bất kỳ kháng nguyên HLA nào và trạng thái suy giáp của viêm tụy tự miễn.
