Tóm tắt Tăng canxi trong máu là một đặc điểm phổ biến ở bệnh nhân bị đa u tủy có triệu chứng. Trong hệ thống phân loại Durie-Salmon, mức canxi cao được sử dụng để xác định giai đoạn tiến triển của bệnh đa u tủy, cho thấy ý nghĩa tiên lượng bất lợi của tình trạng tăng canxi. Hệ thống phân loại ISS bao gồm albumin huyết thanh và beta-2-microglobulin; tuy nhiên, trong phân tích dẫn đến việc hình thành mô hình tiên lượng, tăng canxi trong máu (>10 mg/dl) liên quan đến tỷ lệ sống sót thấp hơn, nhưng không được đưa vào mô hình cuối cùng. Sự phát triển của ISS dựa trên dữ liệu từ những bệnh nhân đã được điều trị bằng hóa trị liệu thông thường (CC).
