Nghiên cứu này đánh giá hiệu quả của Liệu pháp Hành vi Nhận thức (CBT) tại trường học đối với triệu chứng lo âu, lo ngại xã hội và khả năng phản ứng xã hội, cũng như các chỉ số kiểm soát chú ý và thiên lệch chú ý đối với mối đe dọa ở thanh thiếu niên được chẩn đoán Rối loạn phổ tự kỷ. Ba mươi lăm thanh thiếu niên (11–14 tuổi; IQ > 70) có ASD và lo âu được giáo viên hoặc phụ huynh báo cáo cao đã được phân ngẫu nhiên thành hai nhóm: 6 phiên can thiệp CBT Khám Phá Cảm Xúc (Attwood trong Khám Phá Cảm Xúc (lo âu). Tương Lai Horizon, Arlington, 2004) (n = 18) hoặc nhóm đối chứng chờ đợi (n = 17).
