Tóm tắtCác TCs (telocytes) thực sự được định nghĩa là các tế bào mô đệm với các phần kéo dài cụ thể, được gọi là Tp (telopodes). Chúng đã được xác định tích cực trong nhiều mô và hiện tại chúng tôi báo cáo sự hiện diện của chúng trong thực quản. Những tế bào này được xác định bằng kính hiển vi điện tử truyền qua (TEM) trong mẫu thực quản của chuột Wistar (n = 5) xuất hiện dưới lớp biểu mô cơ sở, trong lớp dưới màng nhầy, liên quan chặt chẽ đến các sợi cơ trơn và cơ vân, cũng như trong lớp ngoài. Chúng có mối liên hệ chặt chẽ với các tế bào mast, đại thực bào và mạch máu nhỏ. Các hình thái học lai của các quá trình tế bào mô đệm đã được tìm thấy: các quá trình bào tương tiếp tục xa hơn theo cách telopodial. Một mình các telopodes có thể không đủ, tuy nhiên, để chẩn đoán an toàn các TCs trong TEM. Một bộ tiêu chuẩn cụ thể lớn hơn (như sự xuất hiện telopodial và kích thước của cơ thể tế bào và các telopodes) nên được xem xét để phân biệt TCs với các loài fibroblast khác nhau. Các đặc điểm hình thái và siêu cấu trúc nên phân biệt giữa TCs và các tế bào kẽ Cajal trong đường tiêu hóa.
