Bài viết này xem xét các con đường và quy trình mà qua đó các cơ sở cộng đồng trao quyền cho các thành viên của chúng, cộng đồng xung quanh và xã hội lớn hơn. Để tạo ra các con đường và quy trình đề xuất, một loạt nghiên cứu về các cơ sở cộng đồng đã được xem xét trong các lĩnh vực: sự phát triển của người lớn, phát triển tích cực của thanh niên, phát triển địa phương và thay đổi xã hội. Một tập hợp các đặc điểm tổ chức và các quy trình liên quan dẫn đến sự trao quyền cho các thành viên qua các lĩnh vực đã được xác định, cùng với ba con đường mà qua đó các cơ sở trao quyền trong mỗi lĩnh vực đóng góp vào việc cải thiện cộng đồng và sự thay đổi xã hội tích cực.
