Effect of cable shield resistance on the electromagnetic coupling of lightning to a cable above a ground plane

Tóm tắt
An analysis of the voltage induced onto the inner wire of a cable above a ground plane shows that this voltage does not depend on the resistance of the cable shield at frequencies below the R/L break frequency, where the current is limited by the shield resistance and above the R/M break frequency, where the current is limited by the shield's self inductance. In the frequency range between the break frequencies, roughly from 5 kHz to 1 MHz, the current is limited by the loop inductance, and the induced voltage is proportional to the shield's resistance. For the waveforms and conditions considered in this study, the peak amplitude of the induced time domain waveform should also be proportional to the shield resistance.
