Việc lăn foam đã được nghiên cứu rộng rãi, cho thấy lợi ích trong hiệu suất và phục hồi. Gần đây, rung đã được thêm vào các con lăn foam, với giả thuyết rằng chúng mang lại lợi thế hơn so với các con lăn foam thông thường. Tuy nhiên, không có bằng chứng hệ thống nào trong vấn đề này. Nghiên cứu này được thực hiện nhằm tiến hành một tổng quan hệ thống và phân tích tổng hợp về các tác động của con lăn foam rung (VFR) đối với hiệu suất và phục hồi. Một tìm kiếm hệ thống đã được thực hiện trong PubMed/MEDLINE, Web of Science và SportDiscus theo hướng dẫn PRISMA. Các kết quả bao gồm hiệu suất (nhảy, linh hoạt và sức mạnh) và các biến phục hồi (lưu lượng máu, đau và mệt mỏi) được đo sau khi can thiệp bằng VFR. Chất lượng phương pháp đã được đánh giá bằng thang điểm PEDro. Một mô hình hiệu ứng ngẫu nhiên đã được sử dụng để thực hiện phân tích tổng hợp. Ban đầu, có 556 nghiên cứu được tìm thấy và sau khi kiểm tra các tiêu chí đủ điều kiện, 10 nghiên cứu được đưa vào tổng quan hệ thống và 9 nghiên cứu vào phân tích tổng hợp. Không có ảnh hưởng đáng kể nào lên hiệu suất nhảy (SMD = 0.14 [95% CI − 0.022 đến 0.307]; p = 0.101; I2 = 1.08%) và không có tác dụng có lợi đáng kể nào được báo cáo về sức mạnh đồng nhất (SMD = 0.16 [95% CI − 0.041 đến 0.367]; p = 0.117; I2 = 9.7%). Phục hồi có vẻ được cải thiện sau các can thiệp VFR, nhưng độ linh hoạt dường như không tăng lên sau các can thiệp VFR.
