Mặc dù quy trình quản lý hiệu suất thường được cho là có lợi trong việc cải thiện hiệu suất tổ chức trong khu vực công, nhưng vẫn thiếu bằng chứng thực nghiệm để hỗ trợ cho tuyên bố này. Trong bài viết này, các tác giả xem xét tác động của các thực hành quản lý hiệu suất đối với hiệu quả tổ chức trong một phân khúc cụ thể của ngành giao thông công cộng tại Hoa Kỳ. Phân tích sử dụng dữ liệu khảo sát gốc về các thực hành quản lý hiệu suất, bao gồm cả việc hình thành chiến lược và đo lường hiệu suất tại 88 cơ quan giao thông địa phương nhỏ và vừa, kết hợp với dữ liệu kết quả so sánh được rút từ Cơ sở Dữ liệu Giao thông Quốc gia do Cơ quan Giao thông Vận tải Liên bang duy trì. Kết quả cung cấp bằng chứng rằng việc sử dụng rộng rãi hơn các thực hành quản lý hiệu suất thực sự góp phần tăng hiệu quả trong phân khúc này của ngành giao thông công cộng.
