Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht anhand der Literatur die Frage, durch welche Faktoren das menschliche Immunsystem im Zusammenhang mit Operationen beeinflußt wird. Narkotika und Lokalanästhetika vermögen in vitro und in vivo wichtige Funktionen der Lymphozyten, Granulozyten und Makrophagen zu hemmen. Trotzdem ist die postoperative Immunsuppression nicht durch den Einfluß der Narkose zu erklären. Die Hemmung der zellulären Immunität nach Operationen hängt offenbar einzig vom Operationstrauma selbst ab.
