Mục đích của nghiên cứu này là xem xét liệu, bằng cách nào và khi nào trí tuệ cảm xúc bẩm sinh (EI) ảnh hưởng đến mối quan hệ giữa căng thẳng công việc và phong cách ra quyết định của nhân viên làm việc trong các ngành nghề có mức độ căng thẳng cao. Dữ liệu cho nghiên cứu này được thu thập thông qua một khảo sát tự nguyện cắt ngang từ mẫu 268 chuyên gia (bác sĩ = 60, nhân viên cấp cứu = 99, cảnh sát = 50 và nhân viên từ lực lượng bán quân sự = 59) thường xuyên đối mặt với các tình huống khẩn cấp trong công việc của họ. Phân tích hồi quy phân cấp và macro PROCESS cho SPSS đã được sử dụng để kiểm tra các giả thuyết. Kết quả cho thấy rằng EI đã điều chỉnh có ý nghĩa mối quan hệ giữa: i) căng thẳng công việc và ra quyết định lý trí, và ii) căng thẳng công việc và ra quyết định trực giác, sao cho mối quan hệ của căng thẳng công việc với phong cách quyết định lý trí và trực giác có tính tích cực rõ rệt khi EI ở mức cao và tính tiêu cực rõ rệt khi EI ở mức thấp. EI cũng điều chỉnh các mối quan hệ giữa: i) căng thẳng công việc và phong cách phụ thuộc và ii) căng thẳng công việc và phong cách tránh né, sao cho các mối quan hệ này tích cực khi EI thấp, và tiêu cực khi EI cao. Cùng với các đóng góp lý thuyết của nó, nghiên cứu này cũng đưa ra một số hệ quả cho thực tiễn được thảo luận ở phần cuối.
