Các nghiên cứu quan sát đã chỉ ra rằng có tỷ lệ cao các rối loạn giấc ngủ thói quen trong bệnh xơ cứng teo cơ một bên (ALS). Tuy nhiên, mối quan hệ thực sự giữa các triệu chứng này và ALS vẫn chưa rõ ràng. Chúng tôi đã sử dụng phân tích Mendelian bằng 2 mẫu để xác định xem các rối loạn giấc ngủ liên quan đến ALS có liên quan đến nguy cơ mắc ALS hay không. Các thống kê tóm tắt mà chúng tôi đã sử dụng đến từ các nghiên cứu liên kết toàn bộ gen quy mô lớn gần đây về chứng buồn ngủ ban ngày và các đặc điểm giấc ngủ ban đêm khác (n = 85,670–452,071) và ALS (n = 20,806 ca bệnh, n = 59,804 đối chứng).
