Các cytokine là những trung gian chính của viêm và phản ứng với chấn thương. Mục đích của nghiên cứu này là đánh giá so sánh các cytokine proinflammatory và anti-inflammatory trong huyết thanh của bệnh nhân có khối u lành tính vùng phụ, được điều trị bằng nội soi hoặc mổ mở, bao gồm interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, IL-8, yếu tố hoại tử khối u-alpha (TNF-α), và IL-10 trong giai đoạn hậu phẫu sớm. Tổng cộng 40 bệnh nhân có khối u lành tính vùng phụ đã được nghiên cứu; trong đó 25 người thực hiện nội soi và 15 người mổ mở. Nồng độ IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, và IL-10 trong huyết thanh được đo bằng các bộ xét nghiệm ELISA có sẵn trên thị trường trước và sau 4 giờ, 24 giờ, và 48 giờ sau phẫu thuật. Nồng độ IL-6 tăng đáng kể ở cả hai nhóm trong 4 giờ, 24 giờ, và 48 giờ sau phẫu thuật; nồng độ IL-10 cho thấy sự tăng đáng kể sau 4 giờ và 24 giờ phẫu thuật; sự tăng nồng độ IL-1β chỉ được quan sát thấy sau mổ mở; không có sự biến động đáng kể nào được quan sát trong nồng độ IL-8; sự gia tăng nồng độ IL-1β, IL-6, và IL-10 sau phẫu thuật rõ rệt hơn ở những bệnh nhân thực hiện mổ mở so với những người được điều trị bằng nội soi; thời gian phẫu thuật, lượng CO2 sử dụng, đường kính khối u, tuổi tác, và chỉ số khối cơ thể (BMI) của bệnh nhân không ảnh hưởng đến các mẫu cytokine hậu phẫu đã được nghiên cứu.
