Chỉ có một chủng virus gây bệnh xuất huyết ở thỏ (RHDV) mang mã CAPM-v351 của Cộng hòa Séc đã được xả ra tại Australia và New Zealand nhằm kiểm soát quần thể thỏ châu Âu O. cuniculus. Các biến thể kháng nguyên của RHDV được gọi là chủng RHDVa đang được báo cáo thay thế các chủng RHDV ở những nơi khác trên thế giới, và Australia hiện đang điều tra tính hữu ích của RHDVa để bổ sung cho các nỗ lực kiểm soát sinh học thỏ tại Australia và New Zealand.
