Gebruik en misbruik van alcohol blijken samen te hangen met de verwachtingen van de gebruiker ten aanzien van de inname van alcohol. Dergelijke alcoholverwachtingen zijn dus belangrijke cognities die met interventies beïn-vloed kunnen worden. Dit is voor zowel preventie als therapie zeer interessant. De Vragenlijst Alcohol Verwachtingen kan daarom een nuttig instrument worden.
