Dữ liệu trầm tích và nước lỗ từ hai lõi sediment ngoài khơi Đông Nam Đài Loan cho thấy ảnh hưởng quan trọng của địa hình đáy biển phức tạp lên sự lắng đọng của carbonat và carbon hữu cơ. Những biến động về hàm lượng carbonat và carbon hữu cơ được quy cho các tác động của độ sâu bù carbonat, lịch sử băng hà-giữa băng hà, và tình trạng thiếu oxy. Nghiên cứu này có ý nghĩa quan trọng đối với việc tái cấu trúc môi trường và đánh giá nguồn dầu khí của các tương tự cổ đại.
