In 17 Jahren kamen 125 Patienten mit Carcinom der Speiseröhre zur stationären Behandlung. Auf die Symptome und Lokalisation wird eingegangen. Prädispositionen, wie sie in der Literatur angegeben werden, konnten nicht nachgewiesen werden. Nach Besprechung der therapeutischen Maßnahmen sowie einer Analyse der postoperativen Komplikationen werden mögliche Verbesserungen der Therapie diskutiert. Mit der Radikaloperation konnte eine 2-Jahres-Heilung von 23 % erzielt werden. Palliative Resektionen werden wegen ihrer hohen Letalität und der minimalen Lebenserwartung für nicht vertretbar gehalten.
