Tóm tắt. Mức huyết áp (HA) đã được ghi nhận ở 2.223 trẻ em trai và 2.205 trẻ em gái trong độ tuổi từ 7 đến 18. Ngoài ra, 521 người lớn nam (binh sĩ) trong độ tuổi từ 21 đến 25 cũng được đưa vào nghiên cứu. Trẻ em và thanh thiếu niên tham gia khảo sát được chọn ngẫu nhiên từ các trường Tiểu học và Trung học. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy có sự gia tăng dần dần ở cả thành phần huyết áp tâm thu và huyết áp tâm trương từ 7 đến 18 tuổi. Ngược lại, không có sự gia tăng theo tuổi ở huyết áp tâm thu và huyết áp tâm trương ở nhóm người lớn nam trẻ tuổi, những người có chỉ số huyết áp tương đương với những gì được quan sát ở trẻ em. Một trẻ em được xác định là mắc bệnh tăng huyết áp theo các tiêu chí được Master và cộng sự đưa ra. Những trẻ em có huyết áp nằm trong khoảng từ 90 đến 95 phần trăm được coi là nghi ngờ tăng huyết áp, trong khi những trẻ có huyết áp vượt quá 95 phần trăm được xác định rõ ràng là tăng huyết áp. Tỷ lệ mắc bệnh tăng huyết áp ở trẻ em trong khảo sát này là 3,1%.
