WE must express our sense of the great obligation that is due to MESSRS C. A. PARSONS AND COMPANY LIMITED for their public‐spiritedness in releasing for the benefit of engineers in general the account of the experiments carried out in their research laboratories into the reactions of various materials to thermal shock tests by MESSRS BENTELE and Lowthian as well as our own high appreciation of the honour they have paid to AIRCRAFT ENGINEERING in selecting it as the medium for doing so.
