Vào tháng 12 năm 2019, một loại viêm phổi do virus mới đã được phát hiện ở Vũ Hán, tỉnh Hồ Bắc; và sau đó được Tổ chức Y tế Thế giới (WHO) đặt tên là "virus corona mới (2019-nCoV)" vào ngày 12 tháng 1 năm 2020. Do đây là một loại bệnh hô hấp chưa từng trải qua trước đây với khả năng lây nhiễm rộng rãi và nhanh chóng, nó đã thu hút sự chú ý của thế giới nhưng không có phương pháp điều trị và hướng dẫn kiểm soát nào. Nhằm đáp ứng yêu cầu từ các bác sĩ và cán bộ y tế công cộng về quản lý viêm phổi do 2019-nCoV, một hướng dẫn dựa trên chứng cứ cần thiết phải được phát triển một cách khẩn cấp. Do đó, chúng tôi đã soạn thảo hướng dẫn này theo phương pháp hướng dẫn nhanh và các quy định chung về phát triển hướng dẫn của WHO; chúng tôi cũng đã bổ sung dữ liệu quản lý thực tế từ Bệnh viện Trung Nam của Đại học Vũ Hán. Hướng dẫn này bao gồm phương pháp hướng dẫn, đặc điểm dịch tễ học, sàng lọc bệnh và phòng ngừa cộng đồng, chẩn đoán, điều trị và kiểm soát (bao gồm cả Y học cổ truyền Trung Quốc), phòng ngừa và kiểm soát nhiễm khuẩn bệnh viện, và điều dưỡng bệnh tật liên quan đến 2019-nCoV.
