Behavioural modelling of phase noise and jitter in voltage-controlled oscillators with VHDL-AMS

In this paper, we investigate the phase noise and the jitter in voltage-controlled oscillators. We have developed a VHDL-AMS model of a low power, low noise, multivibrator oscillator. The model includes phase noise effect. Simulation results verify the efficiency of our noise modelling technique. The developed model is introduced in an RF model library to simulate phase noise in frequency synthesisers.
