Tóm tắt

This survey does, I think, demonstrate that some form of trichromatic theory can account for most of those phenomena in colour for which an explanation in terms of receptor processes is to be expected. My impression is that the majority of workers in the subject favour the trichromatic theory at the present time, although there are undoubtedly a minority who have other views. At least let us start this conference with open mind's and if we could each adopt the point of view that our own theories must be wrong, we should have an unusually interesting and enjoyable time. Our first aim, however, ought to be to determine the legitimate significance of the experimental facts, and in this we surely have a unique opportunity with so many aspects of vision represented here to-day.
