Abstract: Leukocytapheresis (LCAP) is widely used for the treatment of immunological diseases. We studied a new treatment of LCAP using a nonwoven polyester fiber filter. In a basic study, 30–70% of leukocytes were removed. Also, 30–68% of the leukocyte subsets were removed. Sixteen inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients, mainly with ulcerative colitis (UC), were treated by this method. Their c... hiện toàn bộ

Abstract: Immusorba was reported by Yamazaki et al. to be the world's first practical immunoadsorbent in 1982. Since then, this immunoadsorbent has accumulated an abundance of clinical achievements. Immusorba has such unique functions that it is used in treating various diseases and holds possibilities for application to more diseases. Immusorba was designed as an artificial receptor for rheumatoi... hiện toàn bộ
Current Therapeutic Apheresis Technologies for Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Tập 2 Số 2 - Trang 105-108 - 1998

Abstract: A large number of physicians have indicated that patients with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) such as ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD) respond to current apheresis technology treatment. However, the mechanism of the apheresis procedure is undefined for patients with IBD. IBD appears to be caused by a complex of interactions from the genes, environment, and the immune s... hiện toàn bộ
