Saturn's ringletsThe moon - Tập 26 - Trang 97-100 - 1982
J. A. Bastin, D. H. Smith
This paper suggests that Saturn's magnetic field is, in part, responsible for
the very fine-scale radial features, or ringlets, seen in the ring-system. The
planet's dipole field interacts with slight radial variations in plasma density,
and the operation of an instability segregates the magnetic flux and plasma in
the ring-plane into narrow alternating zones. We suggest that this mechanism may

Evolutionary tracks of the terrestrial planetsThe moon - Tập 39 - Trang 207-214 - 1987
Takafumi Matsui, Yutaka Abe
On the basis of the model proposed by Matsui and Abe, we will show that two
major factors — distance from the Sun and the efficiency of retention of
accretional energy — control the early evolution of the terrestrial planets. A
diagram of accretional energy versus the optical depth of a proto-atmosphere
provides a means to follow the evolutionary track of surface temperature of the
terrestrial pla... hiện toàn bộ
Criteria for the detection of lunar cryptomariaThe moon - Tập 69 - Trang 141-172 - 1995
Irene Antonenko, James W. Head, John F. Mustard, B. Ray Hawke
Cryptomaria are mare basalt deposits hidden or obscured by superposed higher
albedo material or variations in albedo. They represent a record of the earliest
mare volcanism, and may be a significant volumetric contribution to the volcanic
and magmatic history of the Moon. In order to assess their global distribution
and significance, criteria for the identification of cryptomaria are developed
and... hiện toàn bộ
Eulerian libration points of restricted problem of three oblate spheroidsThe moon - Tập 63 - Trang 23-28 - 1993
S. M. El-Shaboury, M. A. El-Tantawy
In this paper we consider the circular restricted problem of three oblate
spheroids. The collinear equilibrium solutions are obtained. Finally a numerical
study of the influence of the non-sphericity in the location of the libration
points is made.
Morphometric Characterization and Reconstruction Effect Among Lunar Impact CratersThe moon - Tập 111 - Trang 139-155 - 2014
Weiming Cheng, Jiao Wang, Cong Wan
Impact craters on the lunar surface have a variety of morphometric
characteristics that are very useful in understanding the evolutionary history
of lunar landscape morphologies. Based on digital elevation model data and
photographs from China’s Chang’E-1 lunar orbiter, we develop morphologic
parameters and quantitative methods for presenting the morphometric
characteristics of impact craters, ana... hiện toàn bộ
