Palaeoecology and palaeoenvironment of the Aquitanian locality Ulm-Westtangente (MN2, Lower Freshwater Molasse, Germany)
Swiss Journal of Palaeontology - Tập 131 - Trang 183-199 - 2011
Loïc Costeur, Olivier Maridet, Stéphane Peigné, Elmar P. J. Heizmann
The mammalian fauna of the German locality Ulm-Westtangente from the Aquitanian Lower Freshwater Molasse is investigated. The fauna is compared to other rich European localities of the same time period. It is shown to be one of the richest localities for fossil mammals and brings interesting insights into the composition of the Aquitanian European faunas. Sixty-one species are identified and high ...... hiện toàn bộ
A redescription of Trachelosaurus fischeri from the Buntsandstein (Middle Triassic) of Bernburg, Germany: the first European Dinocephalosaurus-like marine reptile and its systematic implications for long-necked early archosauromorphs
Swiss Journal of Palaeontology - - 2024
Stephan N. F. Spiekman, Martín D. Ezcurra, Adam Rytel, Wei Wang, Eudald Mujal, Michael Buchwitz, Rainer R. Schoch
Some of the earliest members of the archosaur-lineage (i.e., non-archosauriform archosauromorphs) are characterised by an extremely elongated neck. Recent fossil discoveries from the Guanling Formation (Middle Triassic) of southern China have revealed a dramatic increase in the known ecomorphological diversity of these extremely long-necked archosauromorphs, including the fully marine and viviparo...... hiện toàn bộ
The nature of the platyceratid–crinoid association as revealed by cross-sectional data from the Carboniferous of Alabama (USA)
Swiss Journal of Palaeontology - Tập 137 - Trang 177-187 - 2018
Tomasz K. Baumiller, Forest J. Gahn
The association of Paleozoic crinoids and platyceratid gastropods has drawn the attention of paleontologists for nearly 200 years. It has been variably interpreted as predatory, commensalistic, mutualistic or parasitic. Previous cross-sectional analyses of large populations of crinoids and platyceratids have favored the parasitic explanation for the interaction because of data suggesting that the ...... hiện toàn bộ

Ontogenetic variation in the cranium of Mixosaurus cornalianus, with implications for the evolution of ichthyosaurian cranial development
Swiss Journal of Palaeontology - Tập 142 - Trang 1-23 - 2023
Feiko Miedema, Gabriele Bindellini, Cristiano Dal Sasso, Torsten M. Scheyer, Erin E. Maxwell
Relatively complete ontogenetic series are comparatively rare in the vertebrate fossil record. This can create biases in our understanding of morphology and evolution, since immaturity can represent a source of unrecognized intraspecific variation in both skeletal anatomy and ecology. In the extinct marine reptile clade Ichthyopterygia, ontogenetic series were widely studied only in some Jurassic ...... hiện toàn bộ
‘Arm brains’ (axial nerves) of Jurassic coleoids and the evolution of coleoid neuroanatomy
Swiss Journal of Palaeontology - Tập 142 - Trang 1-22 - 2023
Christian Klug, René Hoffmann, Helmut Tischlinger, Dirk Fuchs, Alexander Pohle, Alison Rowe, Isabelle Rouget, Isabelle Kruta
Although patchy, the fossil record of coleoids bears a wealth of information on their soft part anatomy. Here, we describe remains of the axial nerve cord from both decabrachian (Acanthoteuthis, Belemnotheutis, Chondroteuthis) and octobrachian (Plesioteuthis, Proteroctopus, Vampyronassa) coleoids from the Jurassic. We discuss some hypotheses reflecting on possible evolutionary drivers behind the n...... hiện toàn bộ
Swiss Journal of Palaeontology - - 2024
Serjoscha W. Evers, Zahra Al Iawati

Caviomorph rodents from the Pampean region (Argentina) in the historical Santiago Roth Collection in Switzerland
Swiss Journal of Palaeontology - Tập 142 - Trang 1-14 - 2023
Leonardo Kerber
Here I reviewed the Pleistocene caviomorphs collected by Santiago Roth (collection from Catalog No. 5) and housed at the paleontological collection of the Paläontologisches Institut und Museum, Universität Zürich, Zurich (Switzerland). The fossils were found in Pleistocene strata from Buenos Aires and Santa Fé provinces (Argentina) during the late nineteenth century. The material includes cranioma...... hiện toàn bộ
First record of the enigmatic coleoid genus Longibelus from Sakhalin (Far East Russia): a contribution to our understanding of Cretaceous coleoid habitats in the Pacific Realm
Swiss Journal of Palaeontology - Tập 140 - Trang 1-8 - 2021
Elena A. Jagt-Yazykova, Martin Košťák, John W. M. Jagt
A newly collected specimen of the enigmatic coleoid genus Longibelus is recorded from lower Turonian strata along the River Shadrinka in Sakhalin (Russian Far East). To date, this is the first record of Late Cretaceous coleoid cephalopods from the island and, in fact, from the entire Pacific coast of the Russian Federation. Lithological characteristics, coupled with published geochemical analyses ...... hiện toàn bộ
