The white muscardine fungus,Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill., was recorded for the first time on sugarcane internode borer,Chilo sacchariphagus indicus (Kapur) in a field survey conducted at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. In laboratory tests, the fungus caused 10.0 to 93.3% mortality in third instar larvae and 3.3 to 100.0% mortality in fourth instar larvae when treated at 104–109 spores/ml. The incubat...... hiện toàn bộ
Physico-Chemical Method of Preserving Sucrose in Harvested Sugarcane at High Ambient Temperature in a Sub-Tropical ClimateSugar Tech - Tập 13 - Trang 60-67 - 2011
S. Solomon, Priyanka Singh, A. K. Shrivastava, Pushpa Singh, Amaresh Chandra, Radha Jain, C. P. Prajapati
Sugarcane in subtropical areas is harvested under a wide array of temperatures, grading from 8 to 42°C. The crushing of harvested cane is often delayed for longer than 72 h leading to a steep decline in sucrose content, especially late in the harvest season when ambient temperatures are high. The average reductions in Commercial Cane Sugar (CCS) in untreated billets and whole cane during late harv...... hiện toàn bộ
Sucrose Recovery from Diluted Cane Molasses by Using Mass Transfer to the Third Liquid Layer at Contacting with EthanolSugar Tech - - 2024
Taketo Otani, Hiroki Ando, Kei Mizuta, Susumu Nii
A simple rate-based method is proposed for recovering sucrose from sugarcane molasses, focusing on its feasibility for continuous recovery. When ethanol is gently poured onto diluted molasses, sucrose is transferred to ethanol layer along with water, resulting in the formation of a distinct third layer comprising sucrose positioned between the ethanol and diluted molasses. Although this third liqu...... hiện toàn bộ
Identification of Sugarcane Germplasm in Sri Lanka for Breeding of Varieties Resistant to Smut Disease (c.a. Sporisorium scitamineum)Sugar Tech - Tập 23 - Trang 1025-1036 - 2021

Breeding for resistance is the most effective and environmentally friendly option to manage sugarcane smut disease caused by the fungus Sporisorium scitamineum. The aim of this study was to determine the smut disease reaction of some selected Saccharum germplasm in Sri Lanka, which comprised Saccharum officinarum, wild canes, imported hybrids and locally bred varieties, for the development of the ...... hiện toàn bộ
Sugarcane improvement in Guangxi: Progress and perspectivesSugar Tech - Tập 6 - Trang 229-234 - 2004
Yu-mo Tan, Hong He
This paper reviews the history of replacements of improved sugarcane varieties and their significant contributions to the cane yield and sugar content in the past several decades in Guangxi. Five obvious replacements of the varieties were recorded typically from local initial cultivated species(S. Sinense) varieties Bamboo cane and Rose Bamboo cane to POJ2878, F134, Guitang 11 (GT11) and ROC16 whi...... hiện toàn bộ
