Stability estimates for h-p spectral element methods for elliptic problemsProceedings - Mathematical Sciences - Tập 112 - Trang 601-639 - 2002
Pravir Dutt, Satyendra Tomar, B. V. Rathish Kumar
In a series of papers of which this is the first we study how to solve elliptic problems on polygonal domains using spectral methods on parallel computers. To overcome the singularities that arise in a neighborhood of the corners we use a geometrical mesh. With this mesh we seek a solution which minimizes a weighted squared norm of the residuals in the partial differential equation and a fractiona...... hiện toàn bộ
Logarithm laws and shrinking target propertiesProceedings - Mathematical Sciences - Tập 119 - Trang 541-557 - 2009
J. S. Athreya
We survey some of the recent developments in the study of logarithm laws and shrinking target properties for various families of dynamical systems. We discuss connections to geometry, diophantine approximation and probability theory.
A hydrodynamical investigation of the sub-soil flow from canal beds by means of modelsProceedings - Mathematical Sciences - Tập 1 - Trang 325-332 - 1934
V. I. Vaidhianathan, Hans Raj Luthra, N. K. Bose
Experiments have been conducted in models to study the direction of flow of water from earthen beds such as those of canals. The photographs of streamlines in the sub-soil are shown. The theory of the flow is discussed and qualitative agreements between theory and experiment have been observed.
Some augmentation quotients of integral group ringsProceedings - Mathematical Sciences - Tập 118 - Trang 537-546 - 2009
Deepak Kumar Gumber, Ram Karan, Indu Pal
Let G be a group and H be a subgroup of G. A complete description of Δ(G)Δ
n
(H)/Δ
n + 1(H) is given, and as a consequence the structures of Δ(G)/Δ(H) and Δ2(G)/Δ2(H) are determined. Also, the structure of Δ
n
(G)/Δ
n
(H) for all n ≥ 1 is determined when G is a free grou...... hiện toàn bộ
The Jacobian of a nonorientable Klein surface, IIProceedings - Mathematical Sciences - Tập 116 - Trang 51-58 - 2006
Pablo Arés-Gastesi, Indranil Biswas
The aim here is to continue the investigation in [1] of Jacobians of a Klein surface and also to correct an error in [1].
Matrix multiplication operators on Banach function spacesProceedings - Mathematical Sciences - Tập 116 - Trang 71-81 - 2006
H. Hudzik, Rajeev Kumar, Romesh Kumar
In this paper, we study the matrix multiplication operators on Banach function spaces and discuss their applications in semigroups for solving the abstract Cauchy problem.
On the ratio of two blocks of consecutive integersProceedings - Mathematical Sciences - Tập 100 - Trang 107-132 - 1990
N Saradha, T N Shorey
Under certain assumptions, it is shown that eq. (2) has only finitely many solutions in integersx≥0,y≥0,k≥2,l≥0. In particular, it is proved that (2) witha=b=1, l=k implies thatx=7,y=0,k=3.
