Investigating shared attention with a virtual agent using a gaze-based interfaceJournal on Multimodal User Interfaces - Tập 3 - Trang 119-130 - 2009
Christopher Peters, Stylianos Asteriadis, Kostas Karpouzis
This paper investigates the use of a gaze-based interface for testing simple
shared attention behaviours during an interaction scenario with a virtual agent.
The interface is non-intrusive, operating in real-time using a standard
web-camera for input, monitoring users’ head directions and processing them in
real-time for resolution to screen coordinates. We use the interface to
investigate user pe... hiện toàn bộ
SonophenologyJournal on Multimodal User Interfaces - Tập 5 - Trang 123-129 - 2011

The study of periodic biological processes, such as when plants flower and birds
arrive in the spring is known as Phenology. In recent years this field has
gained interest from the scientific community because of the applicability of
this data to the study of climate change and other ecological processes. In this
paper we propose the use of tangible interfaces for interactive sonification
with a s... hiện toàn bộ
Modelling the “transactive memory system” in multimodal multiparty interactionsJournal on Multimodal User Interfaces - - 2024
Beatrice Biancardi, Maurizio Mancini, Brian Ravenet, Giovanna Varni
AbstractTransactive memory system (TMS) is a team emergent state representing
the knowledge of each member about “who knows what” in a team performing a joint
task. We present a study to show how the three TMS dimensions Credibility,
Specialisation, Coordination, can be modelled as a linear combination of the
nonverbal multimodal features displayed by the team performing the joint task.

The multimodal, multi-paradigm brain-computer interfacing (BCI) game Bacteria
Hunt was used to evaluate two aspects of BCI interaction in a gaming context.
One goal was to examine the effect of feedback on the ability of the user to
manipulate his mental state of relaxation. This was done by having one condition
in which the subject played the game with real feedback, and another with sham

Exploiting on-the-fly interpretation to design technical documents in a mobile contextJournal on Multimodal User Interfaces - Tập 4 - Trang 129-145 - 2011
Sébastien Macé, Eric Anquetil
Pen-based interaction is well adapted for writing down information in a mobile
context. However, there is a lack of software taking advantage of this
interaction process to design technical documents in constrained environments.
This is because sketch interpretation is a complex research problem and good
performances are required to design industrial software. The first contribution
of this articl... hiện toàn bộ
Spatial and temporal variations of feature tracks for crowd behavior analysisJournal on Multimodal User Interfaces - Tập 10 - Trang 307-317 - 2015
Hajer Fradi, Jean-Luc Dugelay
The study of crowd behavior in public areas or during some public events is
receiving a lot of attention in security community to detect potential risk and
to prevent overcrowd. In this paper, we propose a novel approach for change
detection, event recognition and characterization in human crowds. It consists
of modeling time-varying dynamics of the crowd using local features. It also
involves a f... hiện toàn bộ
