Wood substitution: recent developments in IndiaJournal of the Indian Academy of Wood Science - Tập 8 - Trang 68-71 - 2012
S. K. Nath, Vipin K. Chawla
A number of recyclable bio-materials are available in India which can be used as
raw material base for production of alternate products to wood and wood
composites. Bamboo has emerged as a single largest material from which almost
all products can be made as is usually made from timber. Perhaps the future
generation will use more bamboo based materials due to their availability and
versatility tha... hiện toàn bộ
Production and characterization of briquettes from invasive forest weeds: Lantana camara and Prosopis julifloraJournal of the Indian Academy of Wood Science - Tập 17 - Trang 158-164 - 2020
Ritesh Kumar, N. Chandrashekar
Study on production of briquettes from two invasive forest weeds, i.e., Lantana
camara and Prosopis juliflora was carried out. The experiments were carried out
using a 90 mm industrial briquetting unit. The optimum moisture content for
briquetting was found around 10–12%. L. camara and P. juliflora biomass
briquettes were found to have high density (1.2 g cm−3) and high energy density
(23.05 GJ m−... hiện toàn bộ
Anatomical and physical characteristics of some rattan speciesJournal of the Indian Academy of Wood Science - Tập 15 - Trang 132-139 - 2018
M. Sharma, C. L. Sharma, D. Haokip
The stem of four rattan species namely Calamus latifolius, C. leptospadix,
Daemonorops jenkinsiana and Plectocomia bractealis collected from Manipur was
evaluated for its anatomical and physical characteristics. The stem diameter of
both Calamus species was more in the top position than the bottom. The epidermis
of all the investigated species was single layered with few sunken stomata. The

Chemical constituents of the essential oil from Dysoxylum malabaricum Bedd. wood of Western Ghats, IndiaJournal of the Indian Academy of Wood Science - Tập 7 - Trang 71-74 - 2011
S. Mohan, R. Ezhumalai, S. H. Jain, G. Ravikumar
Dysoxylum malabaricum wood was powdered and hydrodistilled to obtain an
essential oil (0.60%w/w). GC–MS analysis of the oil showed the presence of 63
compounds of which 24 have been identified amounting to an area of 80.21% and 35
unidentified compounds (19.79%) with less than 0.1% area. The major component is
α-Muurolene (11.75%) along with 10 components which are more than 2.5% in
composition na... hiện toàn bộ
Prediction of bending strength and stiffness strength of particleboard based on structural parameters by Buckingham’s p-theoremJournal of the Indian Academy of Wood Science - Tập 7 - Trang 65-70 - 2011
Mohammad Arabi, Mehdi Faezipour, Mohammad Layeghi, Akbar Enayati, Reza Zahed
It has been known for several decades that structural and processing parameters
can strongly affect the modulus of rupture (MOR) and elasticity (MOE) of
particleboards. Several studies that have explored the prediction of MOR and
MOE, but to date there is no an accepted model for explaining the effects of
structural parameters on these properties. The current study predicts MOR and
MOE based on th... hiện toàn bộ
Selection of eucalyptus hybrid clones planted in Brazil for growth and wood qualityJournal of the Indian Academy of Wood Science - Tập 20 - Trang 191-196 - 2023

This study was conducted to assess clones of hybrids eucalyptus to quantify the
genetic gain from growth and wood quality selection traits. The analysis
assessed 29 clones of hybrids eucalyptus previously selected from a clonal test,
and differing in growth. Wood quality was assessed by longitudinal residual
stress (LRS), volume without bark (Vwb), weighted basic density (ρweigh), log
end splittin... hiện toàn bộ
Study on chemical, elemental and combustion characteristics of Lantana camara wood charcoalJournal of the Indian Academy of Wood Science - Tập 10 - Trang 134-139 - 2013
Ritesh Kumar, N. Chandrashekar
In this study, pyrolysis of Lantana camara stem biomass was carried out at
different carbonization temperature i.e., 300, 400, 500, 600, 700 and 800 °C.
The effect carbonization temperature on yield and energy value of charcoal was
investigated. The fuel properties parameters (calorific value, ash, volatile
content, fixed carbon content etc.) of charcoal were studied. The highest
calorific value (... hiện toàn bộ
Application of steam explosion as a method of wood matrix thermochemical activationJournal of the Indian Academy of Wood Science - Tập 13 - Trang 82-89 - 2016

The thermochemical activation of a juniper lignin–carbohydrate matrix was
carried out using a steam explosion method in order to have an impact on the
micro- and ultrastructure of coniferous wood. Changes in the chemical
composition, the physico-chemical characteristics of the components and the
morphological features of the wood substance during treatment were studied. The
possibility of applying... hiện toàn bộ
Researches on influence of wood sanding direction on wood gluingJournal of the Indian Academy of Wood Science - Tập 19 - Trang 103-109 - 2022
Michał Bembenek
The wood surface quality is most determined by the way in which it has been
processed before and by the tools used for this purpose. Machining has its
effect primarily on the structural shape of the surface formed after the
tool–wood contact and also on the roughness of the surface obtained after a
specific process. In most cases, wood surfaces of elements which are materials
or semi-finished prod... hiện toàn bộ
