Journal of Russian Laser Research - Tập 35 - Trang 369-382 - 2014

We propose a secure quantum-network protocol using Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ) tripartite deformed states. Alice and Bob share a secure key by exchanging the entangled deformed states without basis reconciliation. We investigate a perfect transmission efficiency in a perfect quantum channel. The security of the protocol is ensured by the deformed and correlated tripartite states, which allows us to detect any eavesdropping easily.

We have considered a three-dimensional interference correlator and have analyzed its use to analyze the structure of single ultrashort laser signals. We have described the use of shutters based on linear and quadratic electrooptical effects and on filters with saturable absorption. Relations are presented that make it possible to obtain from the measured intensity distribution for the three indicated shutter types information on the distribution of the amplitudes and phases of the spectral component of the analyzed signal (see expressions (7), (8) or (35), (36) or (47), (48) for the amplitudes and the expressions (11), (12) or (38), (39) or (49), (50) for the phases), and the temporal structure of the signal I(t) is determined from these expressions. Estimates are presented for the possibility of decreasing the role of random, stationary, additive noise [see expression (13), (14), or (40)]. The results give grounds for hoping to use these methods effectively to measure the characteristics of ultrashort single laser-emission signals. In conclusion, the author thanks T. I. Kuznetsova, S. A. Reshetnyak, and V. A. Shcheglov for helpful and productive discussions of the topics in the paper.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2) micropowders widely used in modern food industry may contain particles in highly-toxic nanoform. Unlike micrometer-sized crystals, which cannot penetrate cell membranes, TiO2 nanofraction causes the liver function damage, intestinal inflammatory response, and oxidative metabolism imbalance. In this study, we demonstrate the possibility of utilizing Raman spectroscopy for fast detection of nanofractions against the background of anatase TiO2 micropowders. The results reveal that the presence of nanofractions leads to the appearance of several physically-grounded features in Raman spectra of TiO2 associated with the weakening of the selection rules for first-order scattering processes, the size-related frequency shift of Raman-active vibrations, and the enhanced contribution of Raman processes related to the surface states. In combination with standard microfiltration methods, these Raman markers provide a simple method for express control of highly-toxic nanofractions in TiO2 micropowders used in the food industry.
Effect of the initial phase state of DT-matter on the compression of inertial fusion targets

We investigate the efficiency of inertial fusion target compression, where at the initial time moment the thermonuclear fuel is in a two-phase state and has the form of two adjacent layers — the external DT-liquid layer and the internal DT-ice layer. We study this problem for the fast ignition targets, where the ultimate final density of the thermonuclear matter is of a special importance. We take the simplest type of a fast ignition target, which corresponds to the technical justification of the HiPER Project aimed at demonstrating fast ignition at the compressing laser pulse energy ~100 kJ. Such a target presents a spherical DT-ice shell coated with a thin polymer film. We obtain the dependence of the final target density on the mass fraction of the DT-matter liquid phase and formulate the requirements on the admissible concentration of liquid phase if the decrease in the DT-fuel final density does not exceed 10%. We find the criterion for choosing the laser-pulse duration which provides the minimum decrease in the final density of the target containing DT-matter in the initial two-phase state.

We consider optical properties of mesoporous aluminum-oxide-based photonic crystal films, derive the dispersion relation for electromagnetic waves, obtain the effective refractive index of the photonic crystal, and determine group velocities and effective masses of photons and polaritons in the mesoporous media. We compare the reflection spectra calculated with the experimental results. We discuss the potential for using mesoporous photonic-crystal films as amplifiers of electromagnetic radiation, high-efficiency selective mirrors, and optical filters.

We present a composite material based on polymer matrices doped with a new europium(III) complex exhibiting high quantum yield. The Eu(III) complex was introduced into two types of polymer matrices. We investigate the concentration influence of the complex embedded into polymers on luminescent properties of the composite material. This Eu(III) complex proved to be highly dispersible in polymers and compatible with ink-jet technology.
Theory of ion extraction from plasma by an external electric field in systems of laser isotope separation
Journal of Russian Laser Research - Tập 18 - Trang 87-99 - 1997
I. I. Litvinov
A refined model of processes taking place in electrostatic extractors is proposed. The model is based on the analysis of the present-day state of theoretical studies in this field and takes into account both the Langmuir and Bohm mechanisms of ion transport, calculations of initial profile of ionic current to the cathode, and the integrated contribution of ionic current to the anode. The Bohm mechanism is shown to make the dominant contribution to ion extraction for typical values of initial ionic densityn i 0 ≥1010 cm−3. Under these conditions, this mechanism not only causes a considerable (by more than an order of magnitude) decrease in plasma relaxation time τ R in comparison with the values determined by the usual Langmuir mechanism, but also substantially modifies the main structural dependences of the relaxation time, which are found to be now in good agreement with the experimental power dependences. The new results obtained in the work favor the view that electrostatic (nonmagnetic) ion extraction systems provide a rather high efficiency at an increased (n i 0 ∼1011 cm−3) plasma density and, correspondingly, at a high power density.

Schrödinger-von Neumann equation in dual tomographic representation
Journal of Russian Laser Research - Tập 29 - Trang 474-489 - 2008
M. R. Bazrafkan
The concept of dual tomographic symbol of the density operator is reviewed. In the context of dual tomographic map, the time-independent Schrödinger equation is studied. The Schrödinger-von Neumann equation for dual tomograms is introduced, and this equation is used to solve some simple problems.
