Factors influencing mutual gaze in captive female Japanese monkeys (Macaca fuscata)Journal of Ethology - Tập 29 - Trang 487-491 - 2011
Paul C. P. Curtin, Mark E. Hauber, Peter Moller
Mutual gaze occurs when two animals simultaneously look at each other, and
therefore signals reciprocal visual attention. We studied the occurrence of
mutual gaze among adult female Japanese monkeys (Macaca fuscata) housed at the
Central Park Zoo in New York City (USA). We found that the frequency of mutual
gaze varied according to one aspect of social context (proximity), and that
monkeys’ age-ra... hiện toàn bộ
Predatory behaviour of common kestrels (Falco tinnunculus) in the wildJournal of Ethology - Tập 27 - Trang 461-465 - 2009
Davide Csermely, Beatrice Bonati, Romano Romani
The predatory behaviour of eight wild adult common kestrels (Falco tinnunculus)
was recorded during predatory tests carried out in the wild under controlled
conditions. Those birds were offered one laboratory mouse each, which was
restrained on a base, thereby simulating natural predation. The predatory
sequence was recorded directly, but also video-taped. The sequence was rather
homogeneous among... hiện toàn bộ
The function of aggression in the swordtail, Xiphophorus helleri: resource defenceJournal of Ethology - Tập 28 - Trang 239-244 - 2009
Kit Magellan, Horst Kaiser
Competition for mating opportunities may involve exclusion of intrasexual
competitors (direct) or defending resources necessary to attract mates
(indirect). Male swordtails (Xiphophorus helleri) engage in direct competition.
Moreover in natural populations they defend a home range. This study aimed to
test whether this home range defence is a form of food resource defence, which
may therefore have... hiện toàn bộ
Female recognition of trills in the male calling song of the field cricket, Teleogryllus taiwanemmaJournal of Ethology - Tập 22 - Trang 135-141 - 2004
Eri Honda-Sumi
The calling song of the field cricket, Teleogryllus taiwanemma, is usually
considered to consist of sequences of separate chirps. However, sometimes it
comprises a phrase of several chirps in a row, with one long chirp (chirp) and a
few short chirps (trills). In this study, I compared the phrase containing only
chirps with that containing both chirps and trills by analyzing male songs and
conducti... hiện toàn bộ
Characterization of the reproductive behaviour of the roan antelope (Hippotragus equinus)Journal of Ethology - Tập 39 - Trang 165-177 - 2021

Little information exists on the sexual behaviours of the roan antelope
(Hippotragus equinus; É. Geoffroy Saint-Hilaire, 1803), a species listed
vulnerable in southern Africa. To fill this gap, two adult males and 13 adult
females from two captive breeding herds, at Lapalala Wilderness, South Africa,
were observed three times per day from September 2017 to July 2018.
Pre-categorised behaviours exh... hiện toàn bộ
