This study investigated the phenomenon of kinematic asymmetry of the lower limbs
in distance runners. The subjects, 29 male distance runners, were recorded by
high-speed filming while running on a motor driven treadmill under two
experimental conditions (with running shoes and barefoot). Twelve selected
kinematic variables were subjected to multivariate statistical analysis. It was
demonstrated th... hiện toàn bộ
This study investigated the phenomenon of lower extremity functional asymmetries
in a group of competitive male distance runners (N= 29). Bilateral measurements
were taken to assess selected variables of the talocalcaneal flexibility
(goniometry) and of the isokinetic knee strength (Cybex II). Data analysis
revealed significant asymmetries for both lower extremity functional parameters.
The subjec... hiện toàn bộ
A two-dimensional film analysis was performed on five men and six women
finalists in the javelin throw of the Los Angeles Olympic Games of 1984. In
addition to the great interindividual variation in the measured kinematic and
kinetic parameters, the results indicated that in men the winner had the highest
release velocity of javelin (29.12 m × s−1), and that a significant (p < .01)
relationship co... hiện toàn bộ
The oscillations of a hand-held tennis racket and a racket with its handle
firmly clamped were measured by striking the racket with a ball and observing
the output voltage from a thin piezoelectric film wrapped around the handle. The
oscillations of the racket in these two cases were quite different, with the
hand-held racket displaying vibrational modes similar to those of a completely
free racke... hiện toàn bộ

Extensive study has been done on male subjects dealing with gait analysis, but
similar investigations of women runners are limited. The purpose of this study
was to quantify the essential characteristics and alterations in gait mechanics
of women marathoners. Forty elite women marathoners were filmed at four camera
locations during the first U.S. Olympic Women's Marathon Trial. Data were
quantifie... hiện toàn bộ
The purpose of this study was to identify the kinematic characteristics of
bilateral rearfoot asymmetry during heel–toe running under two experimental
conditions: worn (broken-in) running shoes and new (standardized) running shoes.
High-speed cinematography (150 fps) was used to film the lower limbs of four
male runners in the frontal plane while running on a treadmill at their training
pace. Six ... hiện toàn bộ
Finite element techniques were applied in a model of a tennis racket. Linear
curved elements were used on the frame of the racket. Nonlinear cable elements
were used on the strings. The model allows changing material properties and
frame geometry, as do traditional models. Unlike traditional models, however,
this model has the flexibility to change the string pattern and string tensions,
as the st... hiện toàn bộ
