Multi-messenger astrophysics is becoming a major avenue to explore the Universe, with the potential to span a vast range of redshifts. The growing synergies between different probes is opening new frontiers, which promise profound insights into several aspects of fundamental physics and cosmology. In this context, THESEUS will play a central role during the 2030s in detecting and localizing the el...... hiện toàn bộ
Proton irradiation of plastic scintillator bars for POLAR-2Experimental Astronomy - Tập 56 - Trang 355-370 - 2023

POLAR-2, a plastic scintillator based Compton polarimeter, is currently under development and planned for a launch to the China Space Station in 2025. It is intended to shed a new light on our understanding of Gamma-Ray Bursts by performing high precision polarization measurements of their prompt emission. The instrument will be orbiting at an average altitude of 383 km with an inclination of 42° ...... hiện toàn bộ

Remote sensing observations suffer significant limitations when used to study the bulk atmospheric composition of the giant planets of our Solar System. This impacts our knowledge of the formation of these planets and the physics of their atmospheres. A remarkable example of the superiority of in situ probe measurements was illustrated by the exploration of Jupiter, where key measurements such as ...... hiện toàn bộ
The first large format Si:Sb BIB arraysExperimental Astronomy - Tập 3 - Trang 177-178 - 1994

The first 128×128 Si:Sb blocked impurity band (BIB) detectors, manufactured by Rockwell International, are sensitive detectors from 10 to at least 40 μm. While further work is required to make these arrays suitable for the low backgrounds of space infrared telescopes, they can be used now for observations from the ground and aircraft.
The JPL deep-well mid-infrared array cameraExperimental Astronomy - Tập 3 - Trang 277-280 - 1994
Michael E. Ressler, Michael W. Werner, Jeff Van Cleve, Helen A. Chou
We describe the development of a mid-infrared camera intended for use at the Palomar 5-m telescope and at the NASA Infrared Telescope Facility. The camera is based on Rockwell's HF-16 128×128 Si:As BIB array. This array is unusual in that it has a well depth of approximately 30 million electrons; this will allow the use of traditional broadband astronomical filters (N and Q) while keeping a reason...... hiện toàn bộ
Antenna data storage concept for phased array radio astronomical instrumentsExperimental Astronomy - Tập 45 - Trang 351-362 - 2018
André W. Gunst, Gert H. Kruithof
Low frequency Radio Astronomy instruments like LOFAR and SKA-LOW use arrays of dipole antennas for the collection of radio signals from the sky. Due to the large number of antennas involved, the total data rate produced by all the antennas is enormous. Storage of the antenna data is both economically and technologically infeasible using the current state of the art storage technology. Therefore, r...... hiện toàn bộ
The IAU recommended photometric system for ultraviolet astronomyExperimental Astronomy - Tập 56 - Trang 171-195 - 2023

In the current era when access to space is becoming easier and at a lower cost thanks to the standardised cubesat technology, numerous missions are expected to be launched to observe, particularly, at ultraviolet wavelengths. Given the reduced dimensions of the telescope that a cubesat can carry, most of these missions will be focused on photometric surveys of a reduced sample of targets of intere...... hiện toàn bộ
