How accurate should be disparities estimated for image-based rendering?
- Trang 69-74
E. Izquierdo
Disparity estimation is the basis for the generation of a virtual view from a small set of real reference images. Much research on this area has been conducted by the computer vision community over the last decade. Currently, most problems involved in this technology are well understood and there exist several well-established algorithms to render virtual views from perspectively different images ...... hiện toàn bộ

Combating geometrical attacks in a DWT based blind video watermarking system
- Trang 263-266
C.V. Serdean, M.A. Ambroze, M. Tomlinson, G. Wade
This paper describes a high capacity blind video watermarking system invariant to geometrical attacks such as shift, rotation, scaling and cropping. A spatial domain reference watermark is used to obtain invariance to geometric attacks by employing image registration techniques to determine and invert the attacks. A second, high capacity watermark, which carries the data payload, is embedded in th...... hiện toàn bộ

An approach to directional wavelet construction and their use for image compression
- Trang 201-204
R. Vargic
In this paper we construct a new type of directional wavelet transform based on the lifting scheme and quincunx sampling. Based on known separable wavelet predictors we build nonseparable 2D wavelet predictors with directional properties. As example we use the resulting wavelet transform for image compression for motion blurred images.

Speckle suppression by adaptive nonlinear filtering
- Trang 163-166
S. Ghofrani, A. Ayatollahi
Using a good statistical model of speckle formation is important in designing an adaptive filter for speckle reduction in ultrasound B-scan images. Most clinical ultrasound imaging systems use a nonlinear logarithmic function to reduce the dynamic range of the input echo signal and emphasize objects with weak backscatter. The statistic of log-compressed images for Nakagami distribution was derived...... hiện toàn bộ

Tracking moving objects with co-evolutionary snakes
- Trang 325-332
P. Liatsis, C. Ooi
A new symbiotic genetic algorithm (SGA) based active contour model (snake) is proposed to track the B-spline contour of obstacles. It exploits the local control properties of the B-spline to decompose the contour into subcontours and optimizes each subcontour in separate genetic algorithms (GA). Unlike the GA-based snake, an SGA snake can track the obstacle's outline more robustly. Application-spe...... hiện toàn bộ

Hybrid N-feature extraction with fuzzy integral in human face recognition
- Trang 93-98
J. Haddadnia, K. Faez
This paper introduces an efficient method for human face recognition that employs a set of different kinds of feature domains with RBF neural network classifiers, and which is denoted the hybrid N-feature (HNF) human face recognition. A combination of RBF neural network classifiers with fuzzy integral has been proposed to achieve face classification with higher performance. The feature extractor p...... hiện toàn bộ

Simplified Boolean LUM smoothers
- Trang 159-162
R. Lukac
The field of the research related to the implementation of nonlinear order-statistic filters through their equivalent expression by positive Boolean functions (PBF) lies in the conversion between the traditional filtering functions and their corresponding PBF. In the case of the order-statistic LUM smoothers, the complexity of minimal PBF depends on a smoothing parameter and window size. In order ...... hiện toàn bộ

Motion compensated multimode video coding for noisy channels
- Trang 279-282
H. Narayanan, K.R. Rao
Images with rapid motion are more or less degraded at low bit rate transmission. Hence a motion compensation technique is implemented to improve the coding efficiency. Performance in terms of bit rate is compared between motion compensated and nonmotion-compensated multimode video coding. Multimode video coding optimizes the tradeoff between the conflicting objectives of high compression ratio and...... hiện toàn bộ

Modified BTC algorithm for satellite image coding
- Trang 212-215
G. Rozinaj, S. Herrera, J. Mikula
BTC (block truncation coding) codes and their variations are lost-block codes often used in narrowband systems with a lower sensitivity for transported picture impairment. Our preferred modification of these codes goes to better compression with a very low picture impairment against original BTC methods. The modification uses the convenience of low-level changes of successive pictures, which are i...... hiện toàn bộ
