Sắc ký lỏng hiệu năng cao (HPLC) kết hợp với detector cực tím (UV), dãy diode hoặc detector huỳnh quang (UV/DAD/FLD) đã được sử dụng để thiết lập một quy trình phân tích nhằm định lượng 16 hydrocarbon đa vòng thơm (PAHs) ưu tiên theo quy định EU trong hương liệu khói. Các thông số sau đây đã được xác định cho 16 PAHs ưu tiên theo quy định EU: giới hạn phát hiện, giới hạn định lượng, độ chính xác (tính lặp lại và độ chính xác trung gian), tỷ lệ hồi phục và độ không chắc chắn đo lường, sử dụng khái niệm về hồ sơ độ chính xác. Các kết quả thu được tương đối phù hợp với các tiêu chí chất lượng được mô tả trong Quy định của Ủy ban (EC) số 627/2006 liên quan đến PAHs trong hương liệu khói.
