Mục đích của nghiên cứu này là làm rõ tiềm năng tích lũy sinh học động học của các loại thuốc diệt cỏ trong giun đất, Pheretima spp., loài giun đất phổ biến nhất ở toàn châu Á, và Eisenia spp., giun ăn lá trong thử nghiệm được Tổ chức Hợp tác và Phát triển Kinh tế khuyến nghị. Các hệ số tích lũy sinh học động học của trifluralin và pendimethalin được ước tính từ thử nghiệm hấp thu trong 10 hoặc 12 ngày và từ thử nghiệm loại bỏ trong 10 ngày. Thời gian cần thiết để đạt trạng thái ổn định sau khi tiếp xúc với thuốc diệt cỏ là 7 ngày đối với cả hai loại thuốc diệt cỏ ở Eisenia spp. và 1 ngày ở Pheretima spp. Hệ số hằng số tỷ lệ hấp thu (g-tầng đất/g-giun/ngày) và hằng số tỷ lệ loại bỏ (mỗi ngày) cho trifluralin lần lượt là 2.1 và 0.23 ở Eisenia spp. và 0.42 và 0.45 ở Pheretima spp., và tương tự cho pendimethalin lần lượt là 1.5 và 0.26 ở Eisenia spp. và 0.27 và 1.0 ở Pheretima spp. Hệ số tích lũy sinh học động học của cả hai loại thuốc diệt cỏ tương đối gần với hệ số tích lũy sinh học trong trạng thái ổn định và cao hơn ở Eisenia spp. (8.9 cho trifluralin và 5.7 cho pendimethalin) so với Pheretima spp. (0.95 và 0.26). Những kết quả này cho thấy rằng nguy cơ tích lũy sinh học thuốc diệt cỏ thấp hơn ở Pheretima spp. so với Eisenia spp. do tỷ lệ hấp thu thấp hơn và tỷ lệ loại bỏ cao hơn ở Pheretima spp.
