Tắc nghẽn tĩnh mạch cửa ngoài gan (EHPVO) được đặc trưng bởi sự biến đổi thành hang của tĩnh mạch cửa ngoài gan dẫn đến tăng huyết áp tĩnh mạch cửa và các biến chứng của nó. Bài báo này xem xét nguyên nhân, đặc điểm lâm sàng và cách quản lý các biến chứng của nó. Triệu chứng phổ biến nhất là xuất huyết tiêu hóa trên hoặc chậm phát triển ở trẻ em, và trong giai đoạn thiếu niên/cuối tuổi trẻ, bệnh nhân thường xuất hiện với xuất huyết tĩnh mạch giãn, chậm phát triển và lách to. Bệnh nhân EHPVO không có triệu chứng có thể được theo dõi. Bệnh nhân có xuất huyết tĩnh mạch giãn cần can thiệp nội soi, và phẫu thuật được chỉ định cho những trường hợp không thành công với nội soi hoặc không thể điều trị nội soi. Bệnh nhân có triệu chứng lách to có thể được điều trị bằng các phương pháp can thiệp y tế. Bệnh lý mật tĩnh mạch có triệu chứng có thể được quản lý bằng ERCP trong tình huống cấp cứu và quy trình nối thông giảm áp với hoặc không có chuyển hướng mật như một quy trình theo kế hoạch.
