KIE studies on the hydrogen abstraction step in the hydroxylation reaction of methane were performed and gave good agreement with experimental values for similar hydrogen abstraction reactions. The mechanistic implications vis-à-vis KIE effects on rearrangement of Newcomb's probe substrates was discussed.
