Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu này là khám phá các gen ứng viên liên quan đến sự hấp thụ canxi của cây R. roxburghii, cũng như mối quan hệ của chúng với sự tích tụ chất sinh học trong trái. RNA-seq và qRT-PCR đã được sử dụng để phân tích hồ sơ chuyển gen của rễ và lá của cây trong quá trình hấp thụ canxi. Dựa trên mối tương quan giữa sự biểu hiện gen và tốc độ hấp thụ canxi, các kênh ion và protein vận chuyển đã được lựa chọn để xác nhận thêm phản ứng của chúng với việc bổ sung canxi ngoại sinh và chức năng của chúng đối với sự tích tụ ascorbate (AsA), flavonoid và triterpenoid trong trái. Phân tích transcriptome và qRT-PCR đã cho thấy tổng cộng 25 gen ứng viên từ bảy họ gen có liên quan chặt chẽ đến sự hấp thụ Ca2+, bao gồm kênh ion gated nucleotide vòng (CNGC), vận chuyển kẽm (ZTP), protein chịu đựng kim loại (MTP), ATPase Ca2+ ER loại (ECA), ATPase Ca2+ tự ức chế (ACA), thụ thể glutamate (GLR) và protein đại thực bào liên quan đến kháng tự nhiên (NRAMP).
