Bệnh tiểu đường type 2 là một mối quan tâm sức khỏe cộng đồng cấp bách tại Campuchia, một quốc gia có năng lực nguồn nhân lực hạn chế do diệt chủng. Các Hướng dẫn viên Hỗ trợ Sức khỏe tại làng (Hướng dẫn viên) thúc đẩy sức khỏe ở cấp độ địa phương. Bài báo này trình bày kết quả sơ bộ của việc đào tạo các Hướng dẫn viên về phòng ngừa bệnh tiểu đường. Chương trình giảng dạy mang tên 'Ăn, Đi bộ, Ngủ' đã được trình bày cho các Hướng dẫn viên tại tỉnh Siem Reap trong 3 giờ. Người tham gia đã hoàn thành bài kiểm tra trước và sau về kiến thức bệnh tiểu đường. Các Hướng dẫn viên đã được cung cấp giáo dục liên tục thông qua các tài liệu 'Ăn, Đi bộ, Ngủ' và được khuyến khích dạy chương trình này trong các làng của họ. Trong vòng 6 tháng sau đào tạo, các Hướng dẫn viên đã hoàn thành một danh sách kiểm tra về các hoạt động của họ. Một trăm tám mươi lăm Hướng dẫn viên đã tham gia một trong mười buổi đào tạo. Điểm kiến thức đã tăng đáng kể từ bài kiểm tra trước đến bài kiểm tra sau. Trong 6 tháng theo dõi, n = 159 Hướng dẫn viên (85%) đã hoàn thành ít nhất một danh sách kiểm tra hàng tháng. Các Hướng dẫn viên báo cáo tỷ lệ tiếp nhận và triển khai chương trình 'Ăn, Đi bộ, Ngủ' cao cùng với tỷ lệ giáo dục liên tục về bệnh tiểu đường ở mức vừa phải. Phòng ngừa bệnh tiểu đường tại Campuchia còn sơ khai. Các Hướng dẫn viên cho thấy khả năng tiếp nhận và truyền bá chương trình rất tốt. Nghiên cứu trong tương lai nên xem xét tác động của sự hỗ trợ các hoạt động của Hướng dẫn viên và tác động của chương trình đến hành vi sức khỏe của người dân trong làng và cuối cùng, đến tỷ lệ bệnh tiểu đường type 2.
