Chúng tôi đã nghiên cứu tác động của việc cắt bớt đoạn C đầu của phân tử dermorphin (DM) và các analog của tetrapeptide N đầu của nó, [DOrn2]-DM1–4, [DArg2]-DM1–4, [DAla4]-DM1–4, [DArg2, DAla4]-DM1–4, Arg-DM1–4, Arg-[DArg2]-DM1–4, Arg-[DAla4]-DM1–4, và Arg-[DArg2, DAla4]-DM1–4, đến tình trạng chức năng của hệ thống điều hòa nhiệt độ ở chuột cưng tại các nhiệt độ môi trường khác nhau. Lần đầu tiên, chúng tôi chứng minh rằng tetrapeptide N đầu là mảnh tối thiểu có tác động hạ nhiệt. Chỉ có octapeptide N đầu mới thể hiện tác động điều hòa mạch máu. Sự thay thế amino acid trong tetrapeptide đã ảnh hưởng đến tác động hạ nhiệt của nó. [DArg2]-DM1–4 và [DArg2, DAla4]-DM1–4 có tác động lớn nhất. Việc thêm Arg vào N-terminus của các analog DM1–4 đã làm thay đổi hoạt động điều hòa nhiệt độ của chúng. Tác động điều hòa nhiệt độ lớn nhất được quan sát thấy ở Arg-[DArg2]-DM1–4 và Arg-[DArg2, DAla4]-DM1–4.
