Đối với kyanit, độ chính xác được cải thiện lần đầu tiên tiết lộ sự phụ thuộc nhiệt độ thực sự của ba góc liên trục, cho phép xác định chính xác các hệ số tensor giãn nở nhiệt. Đối với cả andalusit và sillimanit, các phép đo tiết lộ các vùng chưa từng biết đến có tính giãn nở tuyến tính âm lớn dưới nhiệt độ phòng, trên trục c trong andalusit và trên trục a trong sillimanit. Trên 1200 K, sillimanit cho thấy sự gia tăng giãn nở nhiệt bất thường có thể do sự thay đổi trong việc sắp xếp các vị trí tứ diện Al/Si.
